When I originally filed the claim, the ext warranty company decided to have the service techs send the light engine to a company called PTS to be rebuilt. When it came back, it was installed and was NEVER working. When I contacted the service tech, they contacted PTS. PTS did not believe them and insisted that they get the light engine back before any adjustment would be made for the charge of 400.00+..During all of that was when Mitsu extended the warranty, so I would not allow them to come back out and remove the light engine to return it.......Bottom line is that PTS refused to return their money, so they looked to the warranty company to be reimbursed and they were...and THAT is why they will not transfer the warranty. I'm relatively certain I could fight this and win, but I'm worn out from all of this!

Latest update...
just received a call from Mitsu stating that the CEO had gotten my letter. He was disappointed that they had failed to provide a speedier solution .
The person on the phone said that he had been given my compliant letter personally from the CEO's desk and he was doing a follow up and will contact the repair service on Monday to make sure things are on schedule for my repair this Thursday.I really didn't expect a reply from or even sure that my complaint letter would make it to the CEO's office, but it did.
We agreed that it's too late for me(my repair is scheduled for Feb 14)
but bottom line....use this address. It gets attention!
Mitsubishi Corporation
C.E.O. Abe Masaharu
9351 Jeromino Rd
Irvine California 92618
will update as repair progresses.

I have had my wd73927 for two years bought feb 2006, this is now feb 2008 relpaced the lamp 3 times allready and i am now wiating to have the third light engine installed, Is it mitsubishi policy to replace the part every eight months untill the warranty expires and then tuff luck your on your own, It would cost me $2300 parts & labour to have this done myself, mitsubishi is well aware there is a huge problem here with this light engine, is there any kind of class action law suite being taken against mitsubishi ?

Sounds like it's high time for you to push for replacement of the TV!

Well on Wednesday afternoon they came out and replace my light engine. And it's working great. The new light engine had a somewhat different configuration than the old one, does this mean they've re-engineered it and we got a 2nd generation part? Of course now it's apparent they lamp needs to be replaced, but we've had it since June 06 so that's not bad.
Whew, just in time for Daytona!!

Hi RTHVZB,after talking to Mitsubishi they will not replace the tv because they say the tv is out of warranty. a year and a day after you parchase the tv it is out of warranty, and third party warrantys will not replace the tv anyway,

They will if it is part of your contract - the lemon clause - three repairs and you can request that.

Just FYI: If you bought your TV in Feb 2006, then your TV is NOT out of warranty.
Mistu extended warranties on your model... Acording to their website:
"Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, Inc (MDEA) 2005/ 2006 DLP

That last line is the key here because Mitsubishi's statement is standard for the industry. After your warranty they will assist with repairs but replacement has to be an extreme case. Not saying yours is or isn't, just explaining things.
I was going to point out what RTHVZB did but my understanding is you knew that and were upset over down time and multiple repairs. A class action lawsuit typically won't help with that...
