The PS3 can't pass DSD (possibly in future, maybe a hardware limitation) but some models can convert stereo and multichannel DSD to LPCM up to 176.4 kHz depending on your receiver. Mltichannel only over hdmi, stereo also over optical w/ recent firmware.

As for conversion of Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround to lpcm, at least for 96kHz/24-bit, the Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds: Live at Radio City BluRay disk is sonically amazing, even if you don't care all that much for Dave Matthews.

Note: not all PS3 play SACD
Not all (40gb in particular) PS3's play SACD. Be sure to examine what you are buying if you want that. No 40gb systems have SACD capability, 20, 60 and 80 do, but I'd be careful and look on the box for the SACD symbol.
This link is a definitive source for info on this: http://www.ps3sacd.com/ in general (root reference compared to above)
BTW, SACD is only output on HDMI - not downcoverted to DD/optical.
