As Allen has pointed out for PS3 or Xbox 360 you are looking for a 16:9 display with a native HDTV resolution of either 720P, 1080I or 1080P. All of your questions are about PC applications and PC monitors. That is good recipe for getting yourself all tied up in knots like what is a VGA connector.
