hey guys...like i said i had my tv calibrated by best buy, i was trying to get the best pic possible. i guess what im talking about is the true motion that i see on the samsung. ive been testing a bunch of blu rays with high pq ratings just to see if i still see that true motion, 3d look, and i still notice. i just feel like i noticed more on the led that i had before i brought it back and got this one. for ex, the bourne ultimatum, there are alot of outdoor scenes and i notice the tru motion, 3d thing on this film more than most others. eli, ive had pioneer plasmas for yrs, but honestly the pic was never as good as the samsung ln46a950. i also have verizon fios as my tv source and the movies look amazing. thanx again.

gpapps

That is not a great source of legitimate, certified Professional Calibrators.

This is what's involved . . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bO8wgJ43NTw

well, dont get me wrong, the picture is amazing, and i can take it off the calibrated settings that he set and put it back on standard or dynamic, but it doesnt look as good. bottom line, i was just trying to compare the new led's and this ln46a950 and was wondering what the tru motion 3-d look was coming from, because i never had this on all my pioneer plasmas.

Hi gbapps ...

.... you HAD essentially the best HDTV available.

Legitimate 3D will soon become economically available ... most likely, still w/ some sort of glasses needed - BUT - NOT today.

You need to go BACK to plasma / view closer or get a much larger display & 'give up' on all the [.. automotions! ..} None are "3D!"

It appears that you are too influenced by these .... "everyone says that this is the tv geeks set" .... claims ? LED sets have not yet proven to be that!

Many have extremely-limited field-of-view { only good seating is the sweet spot directly in front}, etc..

the thing that i fell in love with with the led was that everything seemed so close and 3-d like, especially outdoor moving imagery. i was told it was the automotionplus, which the one i have now has also but it doesnt seem as much as the led. does anyone know if the automotionplus is what causes that 3d look, as if your watching something that was filmed thru a video camera, the way things move seems more lifelike. i feel that even though people said that the one i have now is the better tv, this look that im looking for was noticed more on the led. thanks for your help.

Sorry to tell you gbapps but you have fallen in love with the artificial eye candy of motion flow processing. This process has nothing to do with hi-fidelity imaging as it destroys that very attribute by its function and purpose.

You say you want the best picture possible but that does not appear to be based on references such as film in your local theater and reproducing that correctly but rather your personal perception and preference of how it should be. The advice you received about your current Samsung being a geek TV or videophile TV was based on hi-fidelity reproduction.

The various .. 120 / 240 .. versions of "automotion" available are to aid in the reduction of LCD rapid motion blurring
While it was originally inferred that motion processing was supposed to reduce or eliminate the fine detail blur of LCD nobody has designed their motion flow processing to achieve that. All are dealing with removing motion blur in the original content along with the reduction of low frame rate strobing from 24 and 30 frame sources due to the higher contrast ratio of LCD making this far more visible. At CEDIA a DLP front projection manufacturer was displaying their new motion processing widget; it wasn

hi gbapps . . only more tech geek silliness!

You certainly must develop a means of separating the typical HDTV marketing "Nonsense" from legitimate engineering Facts!

Read This, pls - - - http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/packing_the_deal/

Try to avoid the HYPE of only obtaining .. "The Best Connection by using $150 or +/ea from M...!"

As long as it is a certified 1.3 version @ a legitimate supply house, all the under $8 Web Site HDMI cables are technically the very same!

Even Monster can not alter the physics of the speed-of-light !

p.s. - - - a very inexpensive "experiment" WILL demonstrate the quality {or lack of} of your "HD" Cable feed. Just obtain a appropriate Outside Antenna for your ZIP, connect it w/ Only Quad RG-6 directly to that RF input to "see" the best P.Q. that your HDTV can produce!
