Verizon announced on Tuesday that any FiOS TV DVR users can now program and manage their DVR remotely, using a cell phone. This free service can be accessed either using a special application for select phones, or through a mobile Web site that you can reach from any phone that has access to the Internet. The phones with their own applications include the Blackberry Storm 9539, Curve 8330, and World Edition 8830, as well as the LG ENv2, Chocolate 2, and Voyager.

You can use your phone to access TV listings, schedule programs to record, and even delete previously recorded shows that you’ve already watched. If you have more than one DVR, you can even select which one you want to use for the recording. You can also manage parental controls, and bookmark On Demand offerings that you want to view later.

If you’re like me, you often think of a show you want to record when you’re away from home. This makes the process so convenient that you may never program your FiOS DVR through your television again.
