As the years come and go, one thing remains the same, Black Friday has some killer good deals for the home theater enthusiast.
In 2008 the cheapest Blu-ray player was $128 and a 50-inch 720p plasma was going for $900.
In 2009 the Blu-ray player price dropped to $78 and you could get a 50-inch 1080p plasma with a Blu-ray player for $1000.
In 2013, it seems like you can get all of that, and more, for less than $1000.

In the following paragraphs we'll try to compare and contrast the plasma and LED LCDs and see if there is a real reason why LEDs are putting plasma out of business.

None of these stories were or are true.
It was one [...]

Another CES has come and gone.
At the risk of being permanently banned, we've brought back everything we saw and did in Vegas to share it with everyone who couldn't be there.
As with every CES, we saw some amazing things and some not so impressive ones as well.
Big themes from this year were: 3D is waning, 4K (UltraHD) is emerging, and Plasma may be on the verge of a comeback.

Videophiles prefer plasma TV to LCD, and plasma rates higher than LCD in side-by-side testing.
In addition, large-sized plasmas are less expensive than comparable LCDs, and their greater refresh rate allows them to produce cleaner 3D images.
Nonetheless, the days of plasma TV are numbered.
As consultant David Barnes observes, you need look no farther than [...]
